Unit 4
Master 2D artwork made 3D
The creator of my master art piece was Edvard Munch. : "The Scream" was made in 1893. Edvard trained in 1881 at the Royal School of Art and Design which is located in London. Evdvard influenced the art world by showing how you can demonstrate emotions like fear and anxiety in an art piece. I picked Edvard based on the painting because I always have been curious about what it is about and like why is the figure scared. The construction method I used was coil building. A challenge I faced was my first attempt at making it I had made the base too thin so it cracked after it was dried. And the glaze was just clear glaze
Handle construction: For my construction of this cup, I first laid a slab and cut out a large rectangle. Next, I used a cup laid my slap on the cup, and smoothed it out. Then I removed the cup and added a bottom onto my slab tube. Now that I had my cup I cut a long thin rectangle and attached it to the cup in a swirl sort of form. Then later after it fired I glazed it with a dark blue.
Reflection: What went well was the construction of the mold and the handle functionality. But what went wrong was the glazing, to be honest. My glazing was blotchy and uneven some parts darker some parts lighter. Also, the handle is a bit crooked on the cup however it still works
