Unit One Projects
Bowl
Reflection-This was my first attempt at successfully making a bowl on the wheel. Originally I had made two however I punctured the bottom of one trying to put a foot on. I'm happy with the shape it came out to be however wished I painted it differently. As I go on I will hopefully lear how to use the wheel better however I like building stuff better without the wheel
Frog piggy bank
Reflection wanted to make a piggy bank but a frog instead so the way I built it was by attaching two pinch pots the create a large sphere. I then hollowed out and attached what can be seen as the eyes. Next, I wanted to moth to stick out a bit more than everything else so I rolled two thin long coils and attached them to the frog face. Then because it was a bank I added a slot in the mouth for money to go in and a larger hole at the bottom so I could get money out and thin the inside as it was slightly thick. Then I painted it my desired colors. The only problem I have with the frog is that the hole for the money to go in is slightly too small so things like dollars have a hard time fitting. However, I am in love with how it looks it is one of my favorite things I have made.
Unique plate
Reflection- For this piece, I wanted to make a jewelry dish. So to build it, I first used the slab roller to cut out a large circle for the base and then used the extruder to make the rim around the plate. Because it could be so thick I had to hollow it out. I wish I had tried harder with this piece but I didn't like it to begin with so I just painted it one solid color and when carving the coils out I did a messy job. I wish I could have made sure it was flat because its not even on the bottom.
